Schedule Change: Lacrosse Heads to City Rival Saint Joseph's on Thursday

PHILADELPHIA - The city rivalry continues for Temple lacrosse and Saint Joseph's, as the Owls (1-2) head across town to face the Hawks (0-2) on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 5 p.m.
This game was originally scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 4:30 p.m. but was moved due to expected snow.
Scouting Temple
> The Owls are 1-2 so far and split games last week, coming from behind for a 12-10 road win at Rutgers before falling 16-7 at #8 Princeton.
> Junior Olivia Thompson exploded for a career-high six goals in the Rutgers win, while junior Maddie Gebert also notched a hat trick with three goals.
> Thompson and Gebert have both scored seven goals to lead Temple overall, while junior Julia Ryan is Temple's other multiple-goal scorer with three.
> Junior Kara Nakrasius has a team-best 13 draw controls while senior Amber Lambeth has 10 draws and a team-best five caused turnovers.
> The Owls played strong defense but struggled to score in a 7-4 season-opening loss to Delaware on Feb. 8. The game was knotted at 3-3 before the Blue Hens took over in the latter part of the first half, and Delaware's goalkeeper made 20 saves to thwart Temple offensively.
> Temple had a tough first half at #8 Princeton and was unable to recover in the second. Gebert led the Owls with two goals against the Tigers.
> Gebert was the Owls' leading scorer with 33 goals in 2018 and was named to the Preseason All-American Athletic Conference Team along with Lambeth and Nakrasius.
> Four team captains have been chosen to lead the Owls in 2019: seniors Kelsea Hershey, Lambeth and Thompson along with junior Nakrasius.
> Last year's Owls went 9-8 overall, achieving their fourth straight winning season.

> The Hawks are still looking for their first victory of the season after a 12-9 loss vs. #22 Georgetown and a 12-11 loss at #13 Navy.
> SJU held a four-goal lead on Navy with 6:07 remaining, but gave up five goals in the remaining time.
> Saint Joseph's returned 24 players from its program-record, 12-win season a year ago which was capped by a run at the 2018 Atlantic 10 Championship Tournament. The Hawks' returning all-conference selections include senior attacker Rebecca Lane (First Team), junior midfielder Bridget Cerciello (Second Team), and All-Rookie Team attackers Stephanie Kelly and Sam McGee, now entering their sophomore campaigns.
