Lacrosse Hosts Jacksonville in Final Non-Conference Game on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA -Â After a week off since playing tough against nationally ranked James Madison, the defending national champion, Temple lacrosse returns home to face Jacksonville (4-2) in its last non-conference game of the year. The Owls (3-6) begin their American Athletic Conference slate on March 30 vs. #16 Florida in the first-ever year of AAC women's lacrosse.

Scouting Temple
> The Owls are 3-6 this season and have been up and down, winning two straight over Spring Break before losing two in a row last week. They suffered a 12-9 home loss to Boston University on March 12, and then put up a strong fight but lost 16-10 at #7 James Madison.
> Temple battled back from a 7-3 deficit vs. BU to take leads of 8-7 and 9-8, but gave up four straight goals to end the game. BU's goalkeeper, Kennady Smith, made 17 saves.
> Over Temple's Spring Break, the Owls won 13-10 at city rival La Salle and 16-12 at UMBC. Temple's 16 goals at UMBC were its most so far this season.
> Junior Maddie Gebert leads the Owls with 17 goals and 18 total points, and six other players have scored between seven and 13 goals. Junior Olivia Thompson has scored 13 goals while junior Meghan Hoffman has 12 goals and three assists. Sophomore Bridget Whitaker leads the team with six assists and 13 caused turnovers.Â
> Both Gebert and Whitaker were named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll on March 12 after impressive showings in the Owls' two wins on March 5 and March 9. Gebert recorded hat tricks in both, scoring three goals at La Salle and a season-high four goals at UMBC. Whitaker tied for the lead in total points at UMBC, adding three assists to two goals for five points.Â
> Thompson exploded for a career-high six goals in the Owls' 12-10, come-from-behind win at Rutgers on Feb. 13 and was named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll. Gebert also notched a hat trick in that victory with three goals.
> Junior Kara Nakrasius has a team-best 40 draw controls while senior Amber Lambeth has 30 draws, 16 ground balls and nine caused turnovers.Â
> After five years as an associate member of the Big East Conference, Temple begins its first season in the American Athletic Conference which is sponsoring women's lacrosse for the first time ever. The Owls will play their first AAC game at home against #16 Florida on March 30 after playing 10 non-conference contests.

> The Dolphins are 4-2 overall and have won three straight heading into Saturday's contest, most recently defeating Marist by a score of 20-10.
> One of Jacksonville's losses was to #24 USC, 15-10 on Feb. 24.
> Sophomore Alyssa Arnold is this week's ASUN Player of the Week after totaling 11 points on eight goals and three assists in wins over Bryant and Marist.
> With a team-best 21 points on the year so far, Arnold ranks third in the league, while the Dolphins are among the best in the nation with a 16.33 scoring offense (6th), 41.50 shots per game (7th), and 22.17 points per game (11th).
> Jacksonville went 16-4 last year and advanced to the NCAA First Round, losing 23-18 at Colorado.
