PHILADELPHIA — In their first race of the season on their home course, the Temple women's rowing team racked up six medals to highlight action at the Kerr Cup Regatta on Saturday.

> Temple came away with two golds, three silvers, and one bronze medal, topping the Owls previous season best of five medals, done last weekend at the Knecht Cup.
> Winning for Temple was the second varsity four and the third varsity eight "B" boat, while the varsity eight, second varsity eight, and third varsity eight "A" notched silvers.
> Temple's varsity four wrapped up a solid day with a bronze to give Temple the complete set of medals.
Varsity Eight
> The Owls easily got through to the finals, with a speedy 6:56.38 in the opening heats. Temple outpaced Colgate, La Salle, George Mason, and West Point to advance to the finals.
> In the finals, Temple finished in silver medal position, as their time of 6:45.87 was just behind Drexel's 6:37.90. The Owls outpaces Jefferson, Villanova, Colgate, and La Salle.
Second Varsity Eight
> Temple cruised to victory in the opening heats, recording a 7:00.98, the fastest time of the morning. The Owls won by nearly 12 seconds over Villanova, La Salle, Jefferson, and Loyola.
> In the finals, Temple earned a silver medal, clocking in at 7:00.97. The Owls were just off the pace of Drexel (7:00.97), finishing ahead of Villanova, Colgate, George Mason, and La Salle.
Varsity Four
> The Owls opened racing with a second place finish in the heats, to advance to the finals. Their time of 7:49.33 was behind only Lafayette (7:44.88) and outpaced Loyola, Jefferson, and Maryland in the heat.
> In the finals, Temple grabbed bronze in the six-team final, finishing in 8:06.14. Lafayette won in 7:58.20, followed by Drexel (8:00.17) and the Owls. Villanova took fifth, followed by Loyola, and West Point.
Second Varsity Four
> It was a gold medal performance for the Owls in the finals-only second varsity four event.
> Temple cruised past the five-boat field, as their final time of 7:59.73 was nearly 22 seconds ahead of second place Drexel.
Third Varsity Eight
> Temple finished 1-2 in the third varsity eight races, as the Owls' "B" boat outpaced the "A" boat for gold.
> In the finals only race it was the "B" boat with a winning time of 7:11.91, followed by the "A" Owls in 7:14.94. Villanova finished third in 7:31.94.
Freshman Four
> Temple's freshman four boat had a strong showing in the heats, but despite posting the third fastest time overall, did not advance to the finals.
> The Owls finished third in their heat in a time of 8:13.24, just off the pace of Lafayette and Drexel, but that proved to be the fast heat, as no boat in the other two heats finished faster than Temple.

> Temple's NCAA boats (varsity eight, second varsity eight, varsity four) will head to Raleigh, N.C. to take part in the two-day Lake Wheeler Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
