Football Supports Huddle Up for Autism

4.8.19 | Football

PHILADELPHIA – On Sunday, April 7th, the Philadelphia Eagles hosted their 10th Annual Huddle Up with Eagles Autism Challenge and once again the Temple Football team was there to support them. The day benefited the Center for Autism Research at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Over 8,000 people came out to the event.

The Owls had 83 players and a majority of the staff come out to Lincoln Financial Field and coordinate drills, obstacle courses, and other activities for the families attending the event. Eagles and Owls signed autographs and met with families throughout the picturesque spring day.

"This is our second year with Huddle Up and the Eagles Autism Challenge. We love this event because it is the intersection between sports and helping as well as celebrating the families that are here today," said Jennifer Peck-Nolte, who's two boys, Eric and Luke, are on the autism spectrum. "It's a wonderful opportunity for them to meet players and just get out and have a lot of fun."

"It's a great experience being able to come out here and have fun with all these people," said Temple quarterback Anthony Russo. "We think we have these daily struggles every day but people who are affected by autism go through so much. We are always happy to get out here and do events like this, putting a smile on someone's face makes it that much sweeter."
