Women's Tennis has Five Selected as ITA Scholar-Athletes

TEMPE, Ariz. - Five Temple women's tennis players are among those who have been named 2019 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athletes. Earning the honor are Cecilia Castelli, Ruoyu Chen, Alice Patch, Stefaniya Surikova and Yining Tian. For Castelli, it marks her second year in a row being named an ITA Scholar-Athlete. As a team, the Owls were named a 2019 ITA All-Academic Team.
All-Academic teams boast a team GPA of 3.20 or higher. ITA scholar-athletes must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
The Temple men's tennis team had three honorees - Eric Biscoveanu, Paolo Cucalon and Mark Wallner.
