Women's Soccer Travels to Sacred Heart Sunday

PHILADELPHIA—Temple women's soccer (1-1, 0-0 AAC) will travel to Fairfield, Conn. on Sunday, Sept. 1 to take on Sacred Heart (0-2-1, 0-0 NEC). The Owls will face the Pioneers at 12 p.m. at Park Avenue Field.

> The Owls are led by head coach Seamus O'Connor, who is in his seventh seasonat the helm of the program. Temple is captained by junior Julia Dolan and seniors Morgan Basileo, Emily Keitel and Molly Tobin.
> Last time out, Temple (1-1, 0-0 AAC) displayed a full team effort on the road against UMBC on Thursday night, defeating the Retrievers, 3-1, to earn their first win of the season. The Owls put three goals on the board, with senior Morgan Morocco, junior Emma Wilkins and junior Bella Sorrentino finding the back of the net. Sorrentino's goal was the first of her collegiate career.
> On the offensive end, Morocco, Sorrentino and Wilkins lead the Owls in goals (1) and points (2). Sophomore Gabriela Johnson and junior Marissa DiGenova each have an assist to their name.
> Basileo was key between the posts for the Owls on Thursday night. Her six saves, paired with the superb organization and efforts of the Temple back line, secured the victory for the team.
 
Tracking Temple
> In the first half of action, Temple recorded six shots, five of which were on frame. The team finished the match with 10 shots, eight on goal. Six different Owls had looks on goal.
> The Owls rebounded from being shut out against No. 23 Wake Forest last week, scoring three goals against UMBC on Thursday.
> Basileo notched six saves against UMBC, stepping up to make several huge plays to keep the Owls out in front of the Retrievers. This performance brings her total saves to 16 through 180 minutes of action.
 
Scouting the Pioneers
> Sacred Heart is led by Matt Micros, who is in his second season as head coach of the Pioneers.
> The squad is 0-2-1 on the season. Last time out, the Pioneers traveled to Holy Cross on Thursday, Aug. 29 and tied the Crusaders, 0-0 after 120 minutes of play.
> The team has a new look from the last time the Owls and Pioneers met. Sacred Heart returns 20 to the roster for the 2019 season while welcoming a 21-member freshman class.
> Through three games, Sacred Heart has yet to find the back of the net. The Pioneers have been outscored by their opponents, 6-0.
> Goalie Elyssa Kipperman has been the go-to option between the posts for Sacred Heart. The freshman has logged 275 minutes across three games, earning a 1.31 GAA, 0.826 save percentage and tallying 19 saves.

Series History- Sacred Heart
> Temple and Sacred Heart met for the first time in 2018. The Owls defeated the Pioneers at the TSC, 2-1, with goals from Wilkins and Jules Blank.
