Field Hockey Returns Home to Host Bryant

PHILADELPHIA- The Temple field hockey team will return home Friday at 7 p.m. to host Bryant in its lone match-up of the weekend. The Owls are 2-1 on the season following a loss at Kent State last weekend, while the match against No. 24 Maine was suspended after the first overtime period.
Scouting Temple
> Temple is off to a hot start this season, recording consecutive shutouts for the first time since 2008 with 3-0 wins against Merrimack and La Salle.
> Redshirt-freshman Kerrie Lorenz and junior Dani Batze lead the team in goals with two each, as well as shots on goal with seven each. Batze comes in at No. 1 in game-winning goals with two, while Lorrenz's 11 shots rank first.
> Goalkeeper Cristina Carotenuto had an impressive start to 2019, tying her season-high of four saves against Merrimack to open the season. The junior is tied for 35th in the nation in save percentage (.727) and 12th with a 1.000 goals against the average.
> Sophomores Nienke Oerlemans and Claire Thomas lead the team in in assists with two each.

> Coming off a 3-15 season in 2018, the Bulldogs are 0-3 to open their 2019 campaign.
> Bryant was picked to finish third among the seven Northeast Conference teams in 2019 in its first year in the conference.
> Head coach Jopee de Vries is in his third season at the helm of the Bulldogs' program following stops at Maryland and as the goalkeepers coach for the South Africa Men's and Women's National Teams.
> The Bulldogs have yet to score a goal this season, recording just 13 shots in three matches. The Owls have taken 51 shots to average 17 a match, with 34 on target.
