9.26.19 | Football

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Temple senior linebacker Shaun Bradley has been recognized as one of thirty NCAA® Football Bowl Subdivision student-athletes who excel both on and off the field and was thereby selected today as candidates for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award® in collegiate football. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I FBS senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

Bradley's full ballot submission is below.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

To determine the final Senior CLASS Award winner, the 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition. Along with the winner, the 10 finalists will be awarded Senior CLASS Award first- or second-team honors.

SHAUN BRADLEY BALLOT SUBMISSION

Classroom
Shaun Bradley is on track to graduate and is very interested in media and the media landscape. Bradley was an intern in the video department for Temple Athletics during the offseason while still keeping up with his classes and working out during spring practices.

Character
Bradley was awarded a single-digit jersey in the spring of his junior year. Single-digits are awarded to those considered to be the toughest players on the team. Bradley is a vocal and emotional leader on defense who lives up to the standard of the single digit.
Bradley is a homegrown kid through and through. He is from Mt. Holly, New Jersey, and knew as soon as he got to Temple that it was the place for him. He loves that he is able to have his friends and family close by for every home game.

Community
In the spring of 2018, Bradley was part of the Japan 8. Eight players from Temple traveled to Japan and spent a week working in football clinics and teaching young football players.

Competition
In 2018, Bradley was named to the Phil Steele All-AAC Second Team and was an All-ECAC Honorable Mention selection. He was the APEX Predator Defensive Player of the Game against Boston College and the #theSTANDARD Player of the Game six times. He started every game at MLB and finished second on the team in tackles (78). He returned an interception for a touchdown against Maryland, the first for Temple since Nov. 2015. He ran a fake punt for 28 yards and a first down against Tulsa and made the game-sealing interception in overtime vs No. 20 Cincinnati.

In 2017, Bradley was named ECAC first-team All-East and was the #theSTANDARD Player of the Game four times. As a sophomore, he was a first-year starter at MLB. He forced a game-sealing fumble and registered his first career sack against Villanova. He had a game-high and career-best nine tackles, including two tackles for loss at ECU. He reset his career-high with 11 tackles against Army and notched another career-high in tackles at Tulsa (13). He led the team in tackles (85) and was fourth in TFLs (10.0).
