This Week
The Owls are 3-1 after four consecutive non-conference games. Now Temple is on the road for the second time this season as the Owls take on the ECU Pirates on Thursday night primetime to begin AAC play. Kickoff is set for Thursday, October 3, at 8:00 p.m. ET and will air on ESPN, and 97.5 The Fanatic.
Last Week
Against Georgia Tech, the Owls were able to establish a solid run game and win the turnover battle in order to beat Temple's former coach Geoff Collins. True freshman Re'Mahn Davis had a career day so far rushing 29 times for 135 yards and two touchdowns. His backfield mate, senior Jager Gardner had 18 carries for 69 yards as well. Outside of an early interception, QB Anthony Russo managed the game well for the Owls. He finished with 127 yards on nine completions.
The defense was the highlight of the day once again for Temple. The Owls shut down Georgia Tech on third down (2-14) and in the red zone (0-3). The defense as a whole continues to prove their dominance every week, but this week SAF Benny Walls (six tackles, one fumble recovery, one interception, one touchdown) provided a lot of spark for the Owls. While the Yellow Jackets were driving, DT Ifeanyi Maijeh (five tackles, one sack, two TFLs, one forced fumble) stripped the Georgia Tech QB and Walls was able to scoop it up and take it 74-yards for a score. He also had an interception in the end zone that he returned 65-yards and flipped the field in favor of Temple. LB Isaiah Graham-Mobley (six tackles, two TFLs, one forced fumble) had an incredible defensive effort when he was able to strip a Georgia Tech QB right at the goal line that was recovered by CB Christian Braswell (six tackles, one fumble recovery). The Owls ability to win the turnover battle and force the Yellow Jackets to pass on third-and-long proved to be the difference maker.Ā
