Women’s Soccer Opens Home Slate against Lehigh Thursday

PHILADELPHIA—Temple women's soccer (1-2, 0-0 AAC) will compete at the Temple Sports Complex for the first time this season as the squad hosts Lehigh (0-2-2, 0-0 Patriot) in its home opener. The Owls will face the Mountain Hawks on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m.

> The Cherry and White are led by head coach Seamus O'Connor, who is in his seventh season at the helm of the program.
> Temple is captained by junior Julia Dolan and seniors Morgan Basileo, Emily Keitel and Molly Tobin.
> The Owls are competing at the Temple Sports Complex for the first time this season. Temple looks to start their home slate with a win over the Lehigh Mountain Hawks.
> Last time out, Temple (1-2, 0-0 AAC) wrapped up its three-game road stretch with  a hard-fought battle against Sacred Heart on Sunday, ultimately falling to 3-1 to the Pioneers. Sophomore Gabriela Johnson found the back of the net for the Owls netted an equalizer in the 63rd minute off an assist from senior Morgan Morocco.
 
Tracking Temple
> Tied for the most points (12) on the team last season, Johnson brought her season total to three after scoring her first goal of the season against Sacred Heart. Johnson and Morocco (1g, 1a) are tied at the top of the points list for the Owls.
> Morocco was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll for her offensive efforts against UMBC and Sacred Heart last week.
> Basileo has been a mainstay between the posts, notching 21 saves through 270 minutes of play.

Scouting the Mountain Hawks
> Lehigh (0-2-2) is led by Eric Lambinus, who is in his 10th season leading the Mountain Hawks.
> Last time out, the squad took on Duquesne on Sunday afternoon. The Mountain Hawks dropped the contest, 2-1, in the second overtime period.
> Lehigh is looking to notch its first win of the season on Thursday. The Mountain Hawks have tallied two draws (Fairleigh Dickinson, Monmouth) and two losses (Delaware, Duquesne).
> Senior Kayla Arestivo, a 2018 first team All-Patriot League honoree, and junior Lisa Kestelboym lead Lehigh's offense with one goal apiece. Senior Maggie Wadsworth and sophomore Abby Furtmann have each recorded one assist for the Mountain Hawks.
> Junior Miranda Royds has been to go-to option in goal for Lehigh, tallying 23 saves through 411 minutes in the net.
 
Series History
> Lehigh holds a 7-4-1 advantage over Temple in the all-time series.
> The teams last met on Sept. 7, 2019 in Bethlehem, Pa. The Owls fell to the Mountain Hawks, 2-0, behind goals from Courtney Supp and Rebecca Van Siclen.
