Fencing Set for Penn State Invitational

1.11.20 | Women's Fencing

PHILADELPHIA - For the second time this season, the Temple fencing squad will head to Penn State for competition. The Owls will compete in the Penn State Invitational, facing the Nittany Lions, Columbia, Yale, Duke, and Haverford.

This will be the third team event of the season for Temple, with the Owls going 7-2 through two competitions. In its last team competition, the team went undefeated in four tight matches.

The sabre squad is dominating so far this season, dropping just four bouts in four matches at the Sacred Heart Invitational last month and winning the team title at the January NAC last weekend. Seniors Kerry Plunkett and Malia Hee lead the program in career wins, combining for 366 total wins in cherry and white.

The foil squad is also off to a great start, going 31-5 at the Sacred Heart Invitational and undefeated against the Pioneers. Junior Marielle Luke led the epee squad at the event, with Margherita Calderaro and Sarah Park going 5-2.

Competition in University Park, Pa. will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will last all day.
