Men's Basketball Opens New Decade at Tulsa Friday

TULSA, Okla. - Temple men's basketball will look to remain unbeaten in road contests on the season and pick up its first-ever win at Tulsa when it faces the Golden Hurricane Friday (9 pm ET/ESPNU/1210 AM WPHT).  The Owls (9-3, 1-0 AAC), who are 3-0 in true road games, have lost their five previous contests at Tulsa (8-5, 0-0). 

PREVIEWING TEMPLE
> Temple, under the direction of first-year head coach Aaron McKie, sports a balanced attack with two players averaging double figures and another six averaging 5.3 points or more.
> Senior guard Quinton Rose leads the Cherry and White in scoring (14.3 ppg) and assists (48) and is second in steals (21).
> Junior guard Nate Pierre-Louis tops Temple (5th in AAC) in rebounding (9.2 rpg), steals (27) while ranking second in scoring (11.2 ppg) and assists (40). 
> Senior Alani Moore II (9.9 ppg) has more than doubled his offensive output from last year (4.1 ppg) while ranking second in the AAC in threes per game (2.6).
> Rounding out the starting five are junior J.P. Moorman II (5.8 ppg), who ranks second on the team in rebounding (5.8 rpg), and sophomore Jake Forrester 8.6 ppg), who has scored in double figures in four of the last six games.
> Junior De'Vondre Perry (7.8 ppg), who ranks second in the AAC in three-point percentage (.515), and redshirt junior Monty Scott (5.3 ppg) and freshman Josh Pierre-Louis (5.3 ppg) have provided the most impact from the Owls' deep bench.
> Temple will be looking to open 2-0 in conference play for the first time since the 2014-15 campaign.

SCOUTING TULSA
> Tulsa, under direction of sixth-year head coach Frank Haith, was picked to place 10th in the league by the American Athletic Conference coaches in the preseason poll.
> Like Temple, Tulsa has two players averaging double figures in scoring and six tallying at least seven points per game.
> Brandon Rachal leads the way with 14.5 ppg while Jeriah Horne is behind him with 10.8.
> The Golden Hurricane is third in the conference in field goal percentage (45.4), while the Owls are second in the American in field goal defense (36.2). 
> Tulsa enters league play on a three-game losing streak and is 7-1 in the Reynolds Center, with its lone home loss coming in December against Arkansas State.

SERIES HISTORY
> Temple and Tulsa are meeting for the 12th time with the Golden Hurricane holding an 8-3 advantage.
> The teams split last season's series. The Owls fell 76-58 at Tulsa while winning 84-73 at the Liacouras Center.
> Temple has never won a game at the Reynolds Center, losing all five meetings in the arena.

> The 2019-20 Temple team is one of the deepest in program history.  Nine players average 12 or more minutes per game with two other reserves playing seven or more  minutes per game. 
> The Owls bench has accounted for 36.2 percent of the team's points (313 of 864) with the reserves scoring 60 of the team's 108 total against Saint Joseph's.
>Temple's bench have topped 30 points in two other games (36 vs. Miami, 31 at USC).
