PHILADELPHIA – Ethan Whitney, one of the top high school golfers in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Temple University, announced Owls' head coach Brian Quinn.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Ethan to the Temple Golf family," said Quinn. "He is an extremely talented golfer, but more importantly a fine young man who comes from a great family. I expect him to make an immediate impact with our program."
Whitney, a native of Westminster, Mass., has had a stellar career at Saint John's High School. He set a new school record for low season average as a junior while earning MVP honors at the Catholic Conference Championship, pacing the field with a 69.
Also, in 2020, he won the Dale Smith Memorial Classic (73-67), and advanced to the semifinals of the Massachusetts Junior Amateur and the round of 32 at the Massachusetts Amateur Championship.
Twice named to Team Massachusetts at the New England Junior Amateur Championships, Whitney was a 2019 Worcester Telegram & Gazette All-Star and runner-up for Player of the Year.
