PHILADELPHIA – Temple University men's basketball coach Aaron McKie announced today the addition of three graduate managers, Cameron Ayers, Ryan Brooks and Sean O'Brien, to his 2020-21 staff.
"All three of these young men were standout college players who also played professionally overseas," said McKie. "All Temple fans remember Ryan Brooks, who starred for us a little over a decade ago. Cameron led Bucknell to two NCAA tournaments while Sean was an all-league player at Colgate under former Temple assistant Matt Langel. They will be a real help for us behind the scenes, especially in this crazy season we are about to embark on."
Ayers, who played six seasons overseas with his last stop at Trefl Sopot (Poland) in 2019-20, scored 1,526 points, grabbed 429 rebounds and dished 220 assists while starting three of his four seasons at Bucknell (2010-14). The all-time winningest player (94 wins) in Bison history, he was a two-time all-league performer and was named the 2014 Patriot League Player of the Year.
A familiar face to Temple fans, Brooks was Fran Dunphy's first recruit in 2006 and was instrumental in helping the Owls win three straight Atlantic 10 Conference Championships (2008, 2009 2010). As a senior, he led Temple in scoring (14.3 ppg.), helping the Owls win 29 games and finish the season ranked 12th in the nation. Brooks, who played 10 seasons in Europe, finished his career with 1,225 points, 383 rebounds and 191 assists.
O'Brien, who played the last two years internationally, was a two-time MVP at Colgate where he scored 1,040 points, grabbed 301 rebounds and dished 335 assists in his career (2014-18). The Lafayette Hill, Pa. native set school records for career games played (127) and minutes played in a season (1,159). As a senior (2017-18), he earned third team all-league honors while leading the Patriot League in assist-to-turnover ratio, ranking 4th nationally.
