Football Makes Final Road Trip This Weekend Against UCF

After dropping to 1-4 on the season following a 47-23 loss against #18 SMU, the Owls get ready for their final road
contest of the season against UCF on Saturday, November 14. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm and will air on ESPNU and
97.5 The Fanatic.
Last Week
Leading 13-10 going into the half, the Owls could not maintain the lead throughout the entirety of the game, getting
outscored 37-10 by the Mustangs in the second half. Trailing by four points going into the fourth quarter, Temple could
not manage to stop SMU's high-scoring offense as the Mustangs scored 27 straight points to take a 47-16 lead midway
through the fourth quarter. Missing starting QB Anthony Russo for the second straight week, Temple coach Rod Carey
again rotated backups Trad Beatty and Re'al Mitchell. Each had solid moments with Beatty connecting on a 75-yard
TD to Randle Jones on the game's first play and Mitchell running for 66 yards on 17 carries. Each directed touchdown
drives in the game. Arnold Ebiketie notched another sack in the game, making that the third time in the past five
games that the redshirt junior has recorded a sack.
Last time vs. UCF
The last time Temple and UCF faced off was on October 26, 2019. The Knights traveled to Lincoln Financial Field
and came out victorious, with a final score of 63-21. The Owls cashed in on their first drive with a 32-yard touchdown
reception by Jones from Russo. UCF was able to score on its first possession as well and never looked back, holding
the lead for the rest of the contest. For Temple, all 21 of its points were scored in the first half, highlighted by a Russo
to Branden Mack 75-yard touchdown pass. Mack finished the contest with five receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown.
UCF dominated by way of the running attack through Otis Anderson, who finished the game with a career-high
205 rushing yards and a touchdown. The Knights defense was led by defensive back Aaron Robinson, who totaled
two interceptions, a pass breakup and a tackle for loss. UCF's defense was able to keep pressure on Temple all game
as seven different players recorded tackles for loss and four players logged at least one sack. Defensive end Layton
Jordan was able to force the only turnover for the Owls, by way of a fumble. The Owls defense was led by safety Amir
Tyler (8 tackles) and linebackers Shaun Bradley (6 tackles) and Sam Franklin (6 tackles).
Last time vs. UCF @ The Bounce House
The last time these two sides met at the Bounce House was back on November 1, 2018. The Owls lost a high-scoring
affair 52-40 against then #9 UCF. The offensive showdown featured back-and-forth scoring from Temple QB Anthony
Russo and UCF QB McKenzie Milton. Russo threw for four touchdowns and rushed for another. Temple outscored UCF
34-28 in the first two quarters, but a slower start to the second half and some costly penalties left the Owls empty
handed. The game marked the first time in Temple history that the Owls had a 300-yard passer, 100-yard rusher, and
100-yard receiver in the same game. Russo became one of three Owls in program history to throw for at least 400
yards in a game while completing a pass to eleven different receivers for the second time that season. On the ground,
RB Ryquell Armstead rushed 27 times for 146 yards which marked his fifth 100-yard effort of the year. The offensive
explosion from the Owls broke the school record for total offense in a game (670 yards).
