12.9.20 | Men's Basketball
PHILADELPHIA – Temple University men's basketball will open its season on Saturday, December 19 versus NJIT. The game, originally scheduled for Nov. 25, will tip-off the team's season. Tip time is scheduled for 4:30pm with the game being televised live on ESPN+ and broadcast on 1210 AM WPHT.
Temple will be one of seven teams to start its 2020-21 campaign on Dec. 19. The only NCAA Division I program starting on a later date is New Mexico (Dec. 21 @Boise State), which relocated its program to Texas due to state restrictions. This does not include teams and conferences that opted out of the 2020-21 season or the Patriot League which is planning a potential return to competition on Jan. 2.
The Dec. 19 start also matches the 1936-37 team as the latest season opener on record in the program's history.
