Late Surge Leads Men's Basketball Past Tulane

NEW ORLEANS - A late second-half rally led the Temple men's basketball team past Tulane 72-68, as the Owls won their second-straight conference game. With the win, the team improves to 13-11 (5-7 AAC) while the Green Wave falls to 10-14 (2-10 AAC).

Game Summary
> The Owls kept it close in the first half, taking a narrow lead before falling behind.
> Tulane led for most of the game but never ran away with it, with its largest leading being just 13 points.
> A late run in the last five minutes of the game tied it, with a foul shot from Quinton Rose pulling Temple ahead before securing the victory.
> Temple shot 41 percent from the floor and 73 percent from the foul line, with Rose setting a career-high in free throws made and attempted (11-of-14).
> Rose's 23 led the team and tied with Teshaun Hightower to lead the game, with Monty Scott's 16 and Jake Forrester's 10 rounding out the double-digit scorers. 

First Half
> Tulane struck first, getting on the board with a trey from Hightower and going up 5-0.
> The Owls took their only lead of the half on a free throw from Rose, but the Green Wave pulled ahead again.
> Both teams traded buckets, but Tulane took an 11-point lead with less than four minutes left in the half. The Owls chipped away at the deficit, but went into halftime down 35-28.
> The Temple defense held the Green Wave without field goals for nearly four minutes, holding the team to under 40 percent from the field and 33 percent behind the arc.

Second Half
> The teams would continue to trade baskets coming out of halftime, but the Green Wave would take its first double-digit lead since the first half.
> Tulane took its largest lead of the game with over 11 minutes left on the clock, going up 55-42.
> Temple continued to chip away at the Green Wave's lead, tying the game on a dunk from Rose with 1:23 remaining in the game and going on a 7-0 run.
> A Rose free throw once again gave Temple the lead, with a pair of foul shots from Scott sealing the game.
> The Owls were hot in the second half, shooting 50 percent from the field and nearly 93 percent at the line.

> The Owls will close out their non-conference slate, hosting #15 Villanova on Sunday. Tip is set for 1 p.m. on ESPN.
