HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Playing the final round under adverse conditions, the Temple Golf team finished its first tournament of the spring season in 16th place at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate.
Recapping the Day
> Junior Dawson Anders was the lone bright spot for the Owls. The team captain tied for the fifth best round, a one-over 73, under windy conditions that inflated the scores. Anders, who made four birdies on the day, tied for team honors with a 10-over 226 to placed 32nd overall.
> Freshman Graham Chase tied with Anders for the team lead, but carded his worst round of the tournament with a seven-over 79. He did have three birdies on the day to bring his total to a team best 10 for the two days.
> Temple's three remaining golfers, sophomore Conor McGrath (81), seniors Liam McGrath (80) and Aaron Tobin (82) struggled with the conditions all morning and placed 57th and tied for 82nd, respectively.
The Field
> Augusta (878) defeated Davidson (881) by three strokes to capture the team title
> Davidson teammates Alex Ross and Brian Garrett tied for the lead with two-under 214s.
Quotable
"It was a real tough day to play as the wind kicked up and the scores were a lot higher. We just have to put this behind us and use it as a building block going forward." - Temple coach Brian Quinn
Next
> The Owls are off next week and return to play at the Cleveland Palmetto Invitational in Aiken, S.C. on March 9-10.
