Getting to Know: Amad Anderson Jr.

1.29.21 | Football

Amad Anderson Jr. joins the Owls from Purdue University where he played wide receiver for two seasons after redshirting during 2018, his freshman year.

Over the course of his three years with the Boilermakers, he compiled 36 catches for 362 yards and three touchdowns. Anderson made his collegiate debut in the 2019 season opener against Nevada when he caught 7 passes for 64 yards.

The Staten Island, N.Y., native brings a broad skill set to the Owls. Some wide receivers are possession players while others are known for their speed. Anderson is simply a playmaker. "I am constantly discovering new parts of my game that I didn't previously know that I had," he explained.

After entering the transfer portal halfway through the 2020 season, Anderson was eager to land at Temple. "The opportunity that they were offering me was amazing," said Anderson. "The school was so supportive and understanding of my situation."

Anderson shared his excitement to return to a city atmosphere that he grew familiar with in New York. "It is always fun to be in a major city like Philadelphia," he explained, "it feels good to be in a city where there are things to do when you are not playing football."

Anderson is excited to get back to his winning ways that he experienced in high school. While playing for Curtis High School in Staten Island, Anderson led his team to back-to-back New York City titles. Being a playmaker was what Anderson did best in high school when he averaged 29-yards per catch as a senior during an 11-1 season.

The fans of Philadelphia are passionate, and Anderson is excited to get on the field in front of them. When he steps out on the field, he "just wants the trust of my teammates and to have the mindset that we can win game after game. Just going to give it all I got, like I know I can."

Anderson expressed his excitement to be a part of such a diverse community. "I want fans and the community to know that they are going to get the best out of me and love me on and off the field."
