Women’s Basketball Suffers Second-Straight Loss at Tulane

NEW ORLEANS — The Temple women's basketball team suffered their second-straight loss to the Green Wave, 71-69, Sunday afternoon at Avron B. Fogelman Arena at the Devlin Fieldhouse. Tulane improves their record to 10-5 (6-4 AAC) while the Owls drop to 5-7 (5-4 AAC).
How It Happened
> The Owls finished the game with a field goal percentage of 48.1% (25-52) while Tulane shot 41.2% (21-51).
> Temple was held to just eight points in the second quarter as the Green Wave recorded 16 points.
> Tulane's big third quarter proved to be the difference as the Green Wave outscored the Owls 28-19.
> The Green Wave shot 47.4% from long range, while the Cherry and White were only able to register a 28.6 three-point shooting percentage.
> Tulane capitalized on Temple's 16 turnovers as they finished the game with 19 points-off-turnovers.
Statistically Speaking
> Senior Mia Davis led the Owls with 22 points while adding five rebounds, three steals and two assists.
> Sophomore Asonah Alexander led Temple in both rebounding and assists with nine and seven, respectively.
> Freshman Jasha Clinton added 17 points for the Cherry and White and handed out five helpers.

Second Quarter: Temple 30, Tulane 28
> Tulane opened the second frame on an 8-3 run over the first three-and-a-half minutes to cut the lead to just five points.
> The Green Wave won the second quarter, 16-8, but the Owls still remained in the lead as they headed into the break.
> Tulane also won the battle of the boards in the second frame, pulling down a total of 10 rebounds including four offensive boards, giving the Green Wave four second-chance points.
> Even though the Owls shot just 22.2% (2-9) in the second set of 10 minutes, Temple went into the locker room shooting 52.4% for the half.
Third Quarter: Tulane 56, Temple 49
> The Green Wave registered 28 points in the third frame as the Owls collected just 19.
> Tulane's Krystal Freeman tied the game at 36 with a three-pointer at the 6:56 mark before a second-chance layup by Arsula Clark gave the Green Wave their first lead since the first quarter.
> Clinton was able to tie it back up with a pair of foul shots, but Tulane answered with a 6-0 run to take a 44-38 lead with 3:10 to go in the quarter.
> The Owls allowed Tulane four offensive rebounds for five second-chance points.
> Temple committed eight fouls in the third quarter, allowing the Green Wave to tally nine points from the charity stripe.
Fourth Quarter: Tulane 71, Temple 69
> Tulane began to pull away in the final quarter, going up by as many as 10 points.
