Lacrosse Announces 2021 Schedule
2.2.21 | Women's Lacrosse
PHILADELPHIA - Following a 2020 campaign that was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Temple lacrosse head coach Bonnie Rosen announced the team's schedule for a highly anticipated return to action. The 2021 slate will feature eight home games, and a change in the league format that will result in a double round-robin conference schedule taking place on Friday/Sunday.
Schedule
The Owls will open 2021 on the road, facing Delaware on Feb. 20 before returning to North Broad for a six-game homestand. The team will host Big 5 rival Villanova on Feb. 26 to open play at Howarth Field, with two mid-week games against Drexel (March 3) and Towson (March 10) next on the slate.
The Cherry and White will round out non-conference play against No. 17 Penn on March 13, with a pair of games against No. 8 Florida on March 19 and 21 closing out the team's homestand. The next two weekends will see the Owls on the road, with games at Old Dominion (March 26 and 28) and Cincinnati (April 2 and 4).
Temple will get a break before returning to the City of Brotherly Love, closing out home play with East Carolina on April 16 and 18. Senior day activities are scheduled to take place prior to Sunday's game. The Owls will wrap up the regular season in Nashville, facing Vanderbilt on April 23 and 25.
The American Conference Tournament will be hosted by Florida, with the semifinals set for May 6 and the finals set for May 8.
Quotable
"We're really enjoying being able to prepare for a season again," Rosen said. "Being located in Philadelphia made it possible to still create a competitive, local non-conference schedule. The biggest change to our schedule this year will be the double round robin conference schedule. The Friday/Sunday games will introduce new dynamics that will certainly make for a challenging and exciting conference season!."
