Field Hockey Falls on Senior Day

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple field hockey team (7-9, 3-3 BIG EAST) fell to Lafayette 1-0 Sunday afternoon. The team's nine seniors were honored prior to the game as part of senior day activities.
Recapping the Game
> The first quarter was fairly even, with each team attempting a penalty corner and five shots being fired.
> The Leopards scored the lone goal of the game early in the second, finding the net on a rebounded shot.
> Lafayette attempted three back-to-back penalty corners in the third quarter, but the Temple defense was able to keep the team from scoring the go-ahead goal.
> The Owls had several good looks to score in the final frame but were unable to find the equalizer.
Statistically Speaking
> The Leopards outshot Temple 14-9, putting 11 on target to the Owls' four.
> Kerrie Lorenz and Julianne Kopec fired a team-leading two shots each, both putting one on frame.Â
> Megan Ragusa saw a season-high nine saves, with McKenna Burkhardt recording a defensive save.
> This was just the third time this season the Leopards were held to fewer than two goals, with the team averaging nearly three goals per game.
