Women’s Soccer Stumbles at UCF, 5-0
10.24.21 | Women's Soccer
ORLANDO, Fla. – Temple women's soccer (5-7-3, 2-5-0 AAC) dropped to UCF (8-5-1, 3-3-1 AAC), 5-0 on Sunday afternoon at the UCF Soccer and Track Complex in Orlando, Fla. An explosive first half performance from the Knights pushed UCF out in front, making it difficult for the Cherry and White to rebound.
How it Happened
"We have to recover quickly," Nick Bochette said. "It's important that we take the lessons learned from this past week and apply them to USF on Thursday. Having the opportunity to play against competition of this level shows us how good we have to be at any given moment on the field. As we move into next week, we want to make sure we continue to grow as a team and work towards closing out the season doing something extraordinary."

Temple will return home on Thursday, Oct. 28 to face USF in their last home match of the regular season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN+. This match will serve as senior day for the Owls, as three student-athletes will be recognized for their hard work and dedication as student-athletes on the women's soccer team.
How it Happened
- The Knights wasted no time, netting back-to-back goals just eight minutes into play from Ellie Moreno for the early 2-0 advantage.
- UCF kept the momentum going as Kristen Scott found her first goal of the game just two minutes later to advance the lead to three.
- UCF continued to exert offensive pressure, but goalkeeper Kamryn Stablein found her stride, making back-to-back saves, including a diving save at point-blank range to halt the Knights momentum.
- In the 37th minute, the Cherry and White found an opportunity of their own as Eliza David received a ball at the top of the box from Kyla Tucker. David took one touch before chipping the ball towards net, but it sailed just high.
- As time ticked down, the Knights made a few last-minute offensive runs, but Erin Theiller and Roisin McGovern stood firm on the defensive end to hold the Knights for the remainder of the half.
- After 52 minutes of scoreless play, the Knights broke through again in the 62nd minute. Scott dribbled across the box before rocketing a ball into the back right side for her second of the game.
- Standout forward Emily Kavanaugh made a promising counterattack in the 73rd minute in attempt to put the Owls on the board, but UCF goalkeeper Caroline DeLisle advanced out of the box to make the sliding takeaway.
- Kavanaugh continued her pursuit, earning a shot on goal that got past the hands of DeLisle, but was ultimately called back due to offsides.
- UCF closed out the match with an 88th goal from Katie Bradley on a shot into the bottom left pocket.
