The Bearcats would control the match, allowing the Owls to take the lead twice throughout the entire game and forcing them to a .103 hitting percentage, and hitting .308 for themselves.
RECAPPING THE MATCH
Set 1
- Cincinnati jumped out to a 9-1 lead before Temple would call timeout.
- Out of the timeout, the Bearcats extended their advantage to 14-2, but the Owls scored four unanswered points with the help of back-to-back kills by Gem Grimshaw and Jaliyaah Evans, forcing UC to burn their first timeout.
- Cincinnati would never relinquish the lead in the set as they went on to win 25-14.
- Abby Walker, Adra Oliver, and Maria Mallon led Bearcats with three kills apiece.
- Emme Madden quarterbacked UC to a .306 hitting percentage with 11 of her 30 assists on the day.
Set 2
- The Owls came out firing in the second set as they took a 7-3 lead, led by its defense, forcing the Bearcats into three attack errors.
- UC turned the set around in its favor with a 6-0 run from the serve of Payton Frederick.
- After a Cherry and White sideout, Cincinnati extended its lead to 14-9 with a 4-0 run with three kills from Sarah Norcom.
- Norcom was pivotal to the Bearcats 25-19 win with a set-high five putaways.
Set 3
- Madison Waters led the Bearcats to the 25-13 with a set-high five kills and 14 total attacks.
- Cincinnati had five services aces in the third set victory.
- Graduate student Miray Bolukbasi and freshman Leonie Freytag led the Owls in the third set with three kills apiece.
Overall, the Owls drop to 6-24 on the season and 2-17 in the American.
