Klein and Niese Earn Academic All-Area Honors

PHILADELPHIA- Philly-SIDA, the Philadelphia Area Sports Information Association, announced that two Temple Owls were named to the Academic All-Area Football team. Offensive linemen Adam Klein and Michael Niese are representing the Owls on the 24-man team.
 
Klein is a junior Sport and Recreation Management major with a 3.57 GPA. The Springfield, Pa., native was one of two season-long captains and played in 11 games in 2021 with nine starts, including opening snaps at left guard, right guard and right tackle. Overall, he has started 35 of the 40 games that he has played and has seen action at all five positions on the offensive line.

Niese is a graduate student working towards his master's degree in Engineering and holding a 3.7 GPA. The Chesterfield, Mo., native was Temple's nominee for the William V. Campbell Trophy, known as the Academic Heisman. Niese started eight games at right tackle in 2021, and despite playing through injuries, he ranked among the Top 20 FBS tackles in overall blocking grades according to Pro Football Focus.
 
Klein and Niese are also each three-time all-conference All-Academic honorees.
