Owls in the NFL - Week 14
12.14.21 | Football
Week 14 was highlighted by a special moment for the Owls in the NFL.
Matt Rhule's (2013-16) Carolina Panthers led by Robby Anderson (2011-13, 2015) and P.J Walker (2013-16), who connected for a touchdown in the loss to Matt Hennessy's (2017-19) Atlanta Falcons, 29-21. This was the second Temple to Temple connection in NFL history, with the first coming in 1936 as Dave Smukler found Joe Pilconis in an Eagles' loss to the Giants at the Polo Grounds (Bob Vetrone Jr., Philadelphia Inquirer). Haason Reddick (2013-16) started and made three tackles, while Sam Franklin (2016-19), Colin Thompson (2014-16), and Sean Chandler (2014-17) all saw action on special teams for the Panthers on Sunday.
Elsewhere around the league, Temple TUFF continues to leave its mark on Sundays.
Brandon McManus (2009-12) made a 52-yard field goal and five PATs in the Broncos' win over the Lions, 38-10, while Nate Hairston (2012-16) saw limited action at cornerback.
Bruce Arians'(1983-88) and his Buccaneers outlasted Dion Dawkins (2013-16), Tyler Matakevich (2012-15) and the Buffalo Bills, 33-27, in overtime. Dawkins started at left tackle, while Matakevich saw special teams action.
Matt Ioannidis (2012-15) started and made two tackles as his Washington Football Team fell to the Dallas Cowboys, 27-20.
Jacob Martin (2014-17) started for the Texans as they fell at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks, 33-13.
Quincy Roche (2016-19) and Chris Myarick's (2015-19) Giants fell to the Chargers on the road, 37-21. Roche made one tackle and Myarick made his first NFL start at tight end.
Chapelle Russell (2015-19) made one tackle in the Jacksonville Jaguars' loss to the Tennessee Titans, 20-0.
Tavon Young (2012-15) and his Baltimore Ravens lost to the Browns, 24-22.
Michael Dogbe (2015-18) saw limited action as his Arizona Cardinals fell on Monday Night Football against the Rams, 30-23.
Shaun Bradley's (2016-19) Philadelphia Eagles and Rock Ya-Sin's (2018) Indianapolis Colts were on bye this week.
