Temple Hosts #14 UCF to Open Home Slate.

PHILADELPHIA-- The Temple men's soccer team will host their first match of the 2020-21 season on Saturday as they face off against the #14 UCF Knights. The 7:00 p.m. match will be broadcast live on ESPN+ from the Temple Sports Complex.
THE OWL POST
> Temple is 1-0 to start the season for the first time since 2016. The Owls are currently tied for first in the American Athletic Conference with Tulsa and SMU.Â
> Temple is coming off an 8-8-2 season that saw the Cherry and White start slow, then rebound with four straight wins late in the season. They finished fifth overall in the conference.
>Jalen Campbell is coming off one of the best performances in the country last week. The junior midfielder scored two goals on three shots and is tied for second in the nation in goals. Campbell was recognized as AAC Offensive Player of the Week and has received national honors, including Topdrawersoccer.com Team of the Week and CollegesoccerNews.com Team of the Week.

>The Owls defeated 2019 NCAA tournament qualifier USF 3-2 in their first game in 14 months.
>The high scoring affair saw three lead changes and two ties. Temple came from behind twice to take the lead and secure the victory.
>Campbell scored his first goal off an assist from Brady O'Connor. He scored his second in the 69th minute with assists from transfer Mike Eijgendaal, and Mickael Borger. Amir Cohen added a goal as well of off an impressive long-distance assist from Esteban Suarez.
>Nikolas Hartmann also impressed in goal. The NAIA transfer made two saves on four shots on goal to earn a place on the AAC Honor Roll.
SCOUTING UCF
> UCF is coming off a 15-3-2 season in 2019 that saw the Knights advance to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament before falling 2-1 to AAC rival SMU in overtime.
> The Knights started the season ranked #15 and climbed as high as fifth in the United Soccer Coaches poll. They ended the year ranked #8.
> UCF suffered a stunning defeat last week to Tulsa, 1-0, causing them to fall from #10 to #14 in the TopDrawerSoccer.com poll.
> They feature five consensus All-AAC preseason selections. Yannick Oettl was the unanimous pick for AAC preseason Goalkeeper of the year. He continued to impress last weekend with two saves.
