Temple Faces 2019 AAC Champions, USF, on Sunday

PHILADELPHIA — Coming off a historic win over Villanova earlier this week, Temple women's soccer looks to keep their momentum going as they face the 2019 AAC Champions, USF, this Sunday at 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
The Owls
> Temple women's soccer hopes to keep its momentum going after picking up a dominant win against Villanova on Feb. 17. The Owls beat the Wildcats 3-0.
> Emily Kavanaugh, Hailey Gutowski and Emma Wilkins put on a strong showing against the Wildcats, netting one goal each. Kavanaugh also had one assist that set up Gutowski's goal.
> Freshmen Brooke Kane and Róisín McGovern showed a tremendous effort defensively alongside veterans Djavon Dupree and Arryana Daniels. Dupree picked up an assist herself, setting the ball up perfectly for Wilkins to capitalize on the goal-scoring opportunity.
> Stablein showed a strong effort inside the net yet again against Villanova with nine saves, scoring her first shutout as an Owl.
Scouting USF
> The USF Bulls ended the 2019 season 16-5 and won the AAC Championship 2-0 over No. 1 seed Memphis. The Bulls continued on to the NCAA Tournament, making it to the third round before losing to the No. 1 seed, FSU.
> This season, the Bulls have been picked to finish third in the Preseason Coaches Poll with 51 points.
> USF is led by returning junior goalkeeper Sydney Martinez, who recorded five solo shutouts last season and tallied a .870 save percentage in 14 games.
> The team also returns senior Chyanne Dennis who nabbed Preseason AAC Defensive Player of the Year honors.
> Dennis, along with junior forward Sydny Nasello, was also selected to the Preseason All-Conference team.
Game Preview
> Temple is 1-6-0 all-time against USF with the teams' last meeting in 2019. The Owls fell to the Bulls 0-2.
> The matchup marks the first conference game for USF this season and second for Temple.
