Women's Soccer Shuts Out Tulsa, 2-0

Tulsa, Okla. – Two goals and a dominant defensive effort from the Owls led them to victory over the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes, 2-0, Sunday afternoon at Hurricane Stadium. Temple now moves to 4-4-1 (2-4-1 AAC) going into the final stretch of the season.
How It Happened
> Tulsa came out with the game's first shots in the 5th and 6th minutes, but neither would find the goal.
> The Golden Hurricanes tried to capitalize on back-to-back corner kicks in the 11th minute, but the Owls looked strong defensively and did not allow for any goal-scoring opportunity.
> Kamryn Stablein picked up her first save of the game in the 14th minute after a shot from Madison Tokarchik.
> Gabriela Johnson picked up the Owls' first shot in the 21st minute.
> Roisin McGovern nabbed her second goal of the season off an assist from Johnson in the 24th minute.
> Madison Bee looked to extend the lead for the Owls in the 34th minute, but goalkeeper Emma Malsy was there with the save.
> Tokarchik again hoped to find the equalizer for the Golden Hurricanes, but Stablein was there with the save, earning her third of the half.
> The second half started with a back-and-forth contest from both teams as Tulsa looked to find the equalizer and Temple hoped to gain a two-goal advantage.
> In the 61st minute, a goal from Emily Kavanaugh was waived off, keeping the score at 1-0.
> Emma Wilkins responded to the no goal with a goal of her own in the 65th minute, picking up her second of the season alongside McGovern.
> Tulsa's Kayla Fernandez attempted to close in on Temple's lead in the 73rd minute, but the shot went wide right.
> Another attempt by K. Fernandez in the 77th minute followed suit but wide left.
> Liliana Fernandez tried to net a goal for the Golden Hurricanes in the 82nd and 85th minutes, but the last minute effort fell short as the Owls looked powerful defensively and sailed to victory.
