4.16.21 | Women's Basketball

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's basketball head coach Tonya Cardoza has announced the addition of three transfer students to the Owls' 2021-22 roster. The signees include Jalynn Holmes, Caranda Perea and Jiselle Thomas.

"We are excited about adding these three players to our roster," commented Cardoza. "Jiselle's an efficient and proven scorer. Jalynn plays on both sides of the ball and has shown growth throughout her career. Caranda is a versatile offensive player with great size and has a very good basketball IQ. What I'm most excited about is the passion they all have for the game. They are eager to work hard and win."

Jalynn Holmes is a graduate transfer from Norfolk State University. The 5-10 guard from Upper Marlboro, Md. started in 10 of 14 games played and led the Spartans in points (12.6 per game), made threes (18) and steals (30). She capped off her senior campaign with Second Team All-MEAC honors. Holmes sat out her junior season after transferring from Towson, where she was a member of the 2018-19 CAA Championship team. Holmes will pursue a master's degree in Management at TU.

Caranda Perea is a sophomore transfer from George Washington University. A native of Altoona, Pa. averaged 4.2 points and 2.3 rebounds in 18 appearances for the Buff and Blue. In high school, the 6-2 forward had a successful senior year as she reached the 1,000-point milestone, won the district championship, led the Central Pennsylvania region with 62 blocks during the regular season, earned First Team All-District and All-Region and was selected to play in the 2020 Mirror Classic. The three-time district champion was also named All-District and All-Region as a junior.

Jiselle Thomas is a graduate transfer from Florida International University. The 5-9 guard led FIU with 16.9 points during the 2020-21 season and earned All-Conference USA honors. On Jan. 18, 2020, Thomas became the ninth player in C-USA history to record a triple-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals against Middle Tennessee. In just two seasons with the Panthers, Thomas scored 784 points to average 14 points per game. The Norwalk, Ohio native sat out the 2018-19 season after playing her freshman year at High Point University. Thomas will pursue a master's degree in Science in Conflict and Communication at Temple.
