PHILADELPHIA - The Temple men's crew Varsity Eight boat has been ranked #8 nationally in the first week of the Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association Poll released on Apr. 21. The Owls are the top ranked team in Pennsylvania, and this is the highest that the Owls have been ranked in head coach Brian Perkins' tenure.
"In this strange year of racing, it is very exciting to be recognized as a top player in collegiate rowing," Perkins said. "We are looking forward to earning higher rankings in the tough coming weeks!"

This week's ranking comes after the Varsity Eight boat won two races at the Kerr Cup, recording a time of 5:41.1 in the second race to defeat the Penn Lightweights and Washington College, and a time of 5:44.13 in the first race to defeat the Penn Heavyweights and Saint Joseph's.
The Varsity Eight boat has yet to lose a race this year. The next test for the Owls will be this weekend when Temple travels to Teaneck, N.J. to race against Holy Cross.
