CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. - A stout defensive effort led the Temple field hockey team to a 2-1 victory over Villanova at the Proving Grounds Friday afternoon. With the win, the Owls improve to 6-9 (3-8 BIG EAST) while the Wildcats fall to 4-9 (3-8 BIG EAST).
Recapping the Game
> Temple pulled ahead as the first quarter elapsed, with Veronika Novakova scoring off a penalty corner.
> The Cherry and White defense stood tall, not allowing a single Villanova shot in the first half.
> The Owls scored the go-ahead goal at the 50-minute mark, with Kerrie Lorenz slipping past the goalie and tipping it in on a pass from Tali Popinko.
> Villanova got on the board five minutes later, converting a penalty corner, but couldn't find the tying goal and the Owls earned the victory.
