Women's Rowing Preparing for AAC Championship

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - The Temple Women's Rowing will be looking to finish strong at the 2021 American Athletic Conference Championship Sunday. Â The Championship is being held on Melton Lake.

Previewing the Owls
> After a slower start to the season, Temple has been getting stronger throughout the spring. The Owls Varsity Eight finished second at the Kerr Cup and last weekend the team earned four medals and placed third at the Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta.
> At the Dad Vail, Temple's Second Varsity Eight placed second while its Varsity Eight earned a medal (bronze) for the first time in 20 years. Â
> The Owls Varsity Four placed fourth at the Dad Vail. Temple did not row a 2V4 last weekend, but the Owls will field a strong boat Sunday with members of its 3V8.
Previewing the Championship
> SMU is the frontrunner. Â The Mustangs are currently ranked 11th nationally in the latest poll (May 5) with Tulsa receiving a vote as well.
> UCF has won the last five AAC Championships with the only other school winning the title being former member Louisville in 2014,
> In the last AAC Championship, Â SMU placed second, Tulsa third and Temple fourth.

> The 2021 American Athletic Conference Women's Rowing Championship begins at 9 am on May 16 with the 2V4. Â Races will be every 15 minutes with the Varsity Four at 9:15, the Second Varsity Eight (9:30) and the Varsity Eight (9:45).
