PHILADELPHIA- After a historic season that saw the Temple lacrosse team reach postseason heights not seen in over two decades, defender Courtney Taylor and midfielder Bridget Whitaker were named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic All-Region Team.
Taylor was named the First-Team All-Region and is the first Owl to earn First-Team All-Region honors since Whitney Richards in 2008. Richards was also named All-American the same season. Whitaker was voted Second-Team All-Region. She is the first Temple lacrosse player to earn Second-Team honors since Nicole Latgis in 2018.
Taylor led the Temple defense to a strong season. The Chalfont, Pa. native was consistently assigned the top threat on the opposing offense and excelled in her assignments. Taylor led the nation in ground ball pickups (67) and finished second in caused turnovers (42). The senior also led all defenders in Lacrosse Reference's Expected Goals Allowed (ELO) stat for nearly the entire season by a wide margin. She ended the season with a rating of 15.60, leading the next highest rated player by almost three points.
Whitaker was a star in all phases of the game for the Owls. The midfielder led Temple in goals with 43, ranking fourth in the American. She also paced the team in game-winning goals with three and was a dominant force in the draw circle. The senior set a new program record for single-season draw controls (87), smashing the previous record of 78. Whitaker also led the team in free position goals (15), was also second in shots (96), second in ground balls (36), and third caused turnovers (27). She ended the season ranking in the top ten of seven different statistical categories in the American.
