Temple Tied for Fourth after First Round of GolfWeek Fall Challenge

Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Conor McGrath had a career-best five-under 67 to lead the Temple Golf team to a fourth-place tie at the 18-team GolfWeek Fall Challenge Sunday. The three-day, 72-hole stroke play event, held at the 6,926-yard par 72 True Blue Golf Course, continues Monday with round two.
Recapping the Day
> McGrath picked up right where he left off last year, making six birdies in his round to tie for third overall, two shots off the lead. His 67 ties for his best score while his five-under par is his best round of his collegiate career.
> Dawson Anders was not far behind, making two birdies in a one-over round of 73 to tie for 31st.
> In his collegiate debut, Joey Morganti had an up-and-down day, recording the lone eagle of the day for the Owls, and one of four overall, on his final hole (#9) of the round to go along with two birdies. However, he had three bogeys and one double bogey to finish with a two-over 74 and tied for 43rd.
> Also making his debut, Ethan Whitney had three birdies, including two on his final three holes, to tie Morganti for 43rd overall with a 74.
> Graham Chase rounded out the Owls, making two birdies to finish with a three-over 75.
The Field
> Mercer leads the field with a 15-under 273, nine shots better than second place Delaware and 15 shots better than Temple, which finished even par at 288.
> Mercer's Martin Plukka is tied with Wofford's Harry Jones, who is playing as an individual, with a seven-under 65.

> Temple is paired with California Baptist and Wofford, both tied with the Owls for fourth. The teams tee off at 8:30 am from hole one.
