Kavanaugh and Stablein Earn AAC Weekly Honors

PHILADELPHIA – After the 3-2 come-from-behind win over Cincinnati on Thursday night, juniors Emily Kavanaugh and Kamryn Stablein received weekly honors from the American Athletic Conference (AAC) for their efforts. This marks Kavanaugh's first AAC award of her career while Stablein has collected two this season and four since her start at Temple in 2020-21.
Kavanaugh was named AAC Offensive Player of the Week after another stellar performance in the conference match against Cincinnati on Thursday. After the Bearcats found the early 2-0 advantage, Kavanaugh netted back-to-back goals in a three-minute span to close the Bearcats lead and propel the Owls comeback. Kavanaugh has remained consistent for Temple, leading the team in goals (6) and points (12). After netting two goals in each of the last two games, Kavanuagh is now tied for second in the conference in goals and goals per game (0.67).
Stablein was named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll after serving as an instrumental piece of the defensive unit this past week. Stablein recorded twelve saves in the match against Cincinnati, including eight in the second half to hold the Bearcats scoreless after the 47th minute. The standout keeper enters the week as the conference leader in both saves (53) and saves per game (6.62) while she is currently tied for 24th in the nation in saves per game.
