Women’s Soccer Set to Host Rider Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's soccer (0-2-2, 0-0-0 AAC) will host Rider (1-2-0, 0-0-0 MAAC) on Saturday, Sept. 4. The match is set for 7 p.m. at the Temple Sports Complex and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

The Owls

Temple enters the match 0-2-2 (0-0-0 AAC) after falling to Towson 2-0 on Thursday night.
The match was highlighted by goalkeeper Kamryn Stablein, making back-to-back saves, including a penalty kick stop just five minutes into regulation to halt Towson's early momentum.
Stablein, the AAC Goalkeeper of the Week last week, now has 24 saves on the season, recording a .800 save percentage in just three games played.
Erin Theiller, the graduate transfer from Binghamton notched the lone goal of the season in the game against Penn on Aug. 27, off a free kick sent in by Lexy Endres.

Scouting Rider

Rider enters the match with an overall record of 1-2-0 (0-0-0 MAAC), earning their first win of the season over St. Francis on Aug. 25, with a final score of 4-2.
The Broncs are led by Makenzie Rodrigues and Chloe Fisher, each tallying eight points in just three games. Rodrigues has racked up four goals and Fisher has recorded two goals and four assists.
Ellie Sciancalepore returns in goals for Rider, recording 10 saves with a .625 save percentage. In her 2020-21 freshman debut, Sciancalepore racked up 46 saves and a .821 save percentage over the course of eight matches.
Last year, the Broncs went 4-2-2 (3-1-2 MAAC), advancing to the MAAC semifinals for the first time in four years before falling to top seeded Siena College, 2-1.

Game Preview

Temple is 4-3-1 all-time against Rider with the teams' last meeting coming in 2019. The match advanced to double overtime, but ultimately ended in a 1-1 draw.
