Week 3 of the NFL season kicked off last Thursday Night as Matt Rhule (2013-16) and the Panthers faced off against the Texans. The game featured six former Temple Owls. Outside linebacker Haason Reddick (2012-16) continued his incredible season recording another 1.5 sacks on top of three QB hits and a tackle for loss. Reddick now finds himself in the top 3 in sacks among all NFL players with 4.5. Safeties Sean Chandler (2015-17) and Sam Franklin (2016-19) both contributed multiple tackles and helped the defense allow just 9 points in the win. On the other side of the ball, Texans' defensive end Jacob Martin (2014-17) made three tackles and a tackle for loss.
Up north in Buffalo, Dion Dawkins (2013-16) started and played the whole game at offensive tackle. He was a part of the unit that allowed zero sacks against the talented Washington defensive front. Captain Tyler Matakevich (2012-15) made his first two tackles of the season on special teams. The two helped beat former teammate Matt Ioannidis (2012-15) and the Washington Football Team 43-21.
Cornerback Tavon Young (2012-15) helped give the Ravens a thrilling win over the Lions by giving his team one of their two sacks in the game. While Matt Hennessy (2017-19) started at center and assisted in giving the Falcons their first win of the season over the Giants. In Denver, kicker Brandon McManus (2009-12) and cornerback Nate Hairston (2013-16) kept the Broncos undefeated in a win against the Jets. McManus was perfect on field goals, going 4-4 with a long of 47 yards. Hairston helped the defense in shutting out the opponent.
Elsewhere across the league, Cardinals defensive end Michael Dogbe (2014-18) made a tackle in the 31-19 win over the Jaguars. Colts' cornerback Rock Ya-Sin recovered a fumble and made three tackles despite the loss to the Titans. Eagles' linebacker Shaun Bradley (2016-19) played on special teams in the loss on Monday Night against the Cowboys.
