Women's Cross Country Heads to Penn State National Open for Final Regular Season Race of the Year

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's cross country team, will hit the road and head Penn State to compete in Penn State National Open. The 6000m contest will begin at 10:45 AM.
Previewing the Owls
> A hamstrung Temple squad finished 16th out of 20 at the Roy Griak Invitational three weeks ago. Â
> Freshman Elvira Bredin continued her fantastic season pacing the Owls, she finished 47th overall. Laura Nicholson, Michelle Frowijn, Cat Shontz, and Emily Schuler rounded out the top 5.
The Invitational
> Temple will be one of 18 schools competing at the PSU National Open. The Owls are joined by Bucknell, Columbia, Delaware, Eastern Michigan, Georgia Tech, La Salle, Maryland, Northeastern, Penn State, Quinnipiac, Rider, Rutgers, Syracuse, UMB, Villanova, West Virginia, and Youngstown State

"The Penn State National Open is set to be a great meet with some strong teams from Pennsylvania and surrounding states attending. Unfortunately, on the women's side we're down two key contributors this week so we're not quite where we need to be in terms of depth. That won't stop our runners from putting forward their best effort and striving to be the best we can be. I'm excited to see our athletes race on Penn State's Cross-Country course as we will be returning here for Mid-Atlantic Regionals in a months time!"
