Volleyball Falls to USF on Senior Night in Five Sets

PHILADELPHIA – After winning the first two sets of Friday's Senior Night match, the Temple Owls volleyball team dropped the final three sets to the USF Bulls, losing, 25-19, 31-29, 23-25, 23-25, 9-15.
The loss drops the Owls to 10-18 overall and 4-13 in AAC play, while USF improves to 10-17 overall and 4-11 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The match featured 41 ties and 18 lead changes.
- Temple's Jelena Prolic led the team with her 11th double-double of the season, including a match-high 19 kills and a career-high 17 digs.
- Maria Clara Andrade led USF with 13 kills.
Set 1 (Temple 25, USF 19)
- Temple's offense hit an impressive .351 in the first set with Prolic leading with seven kills, and a .417 hitting percentage.
- With the set tied at 10-10, the Owls scored 10 of the next 15 points, before USF was forced to use a timeout. During the run, Prolic had her three of her 19 kills and sophomore Taylor Davenport had three of her 16 kills on the night.
- After the USF timeout, the Cherry and White finished off the Bulls to win five of the final eight points behind a pair of kills from Prolic.
Set 2 (Temple 31, USF 29)
- 18 of the 41 ties on the night came in set two.
- Temple rushed out to a 8-4 advantage, before the Bulls eventually tied the score at 9-9 and took a two point lead, 14-12.
- Both teams traded set points down the final stretch of the set, but Temple was able to secure the win behind back-to-back service aces by Taylor Davenport.
Set 3 (USF 25, Temple 23)
- Just like the second set, Temple jumped out to lead by six points on three different occasions.
- Redshirt senior Peyton Boyd helped Owls to a 16-10 lead with four of her 17 kills on the night, but the Bulls started their comeback to take the win as it scored multiple points on their sideout on three different occasions.
- Yasmin Shaw had four of her set-high six kills to lead the Bulls in the come-from-behind victory.
- The Bulls hit .351 to the Owls .184.
Set 4 (USF 25, Temple 23)
- Temple led by one point on two separate occasions in the set, but each time USF would tie the score and re-take the lead.
- The Bulls won the set by Andrade's five kills on a .455 hitting percentage.
- Temple had three service errors in the set compared to zero from USF.
Set 5 (USF 15, Temple 9)
- With Temple leading 2-1, South Florida would take the advantage, 3-2 and not look back.
- Boyd hit .500 with three kills.
- Shaw and Andrade led the Bulls with a pair of kills in the final set.
