11.22.22 | Football
PHILADELPHIA- As we look towards Week 11 in the NFL, let's highlight two former Owls who are excelling on special teams. Sean Chandler (2014-17) and Sam Franklin (2016-19) from the Carolina Panthers are tied for 4th place in total special team tackles this season with 10 tackles each. In addition to these two standouts, let's see how our other former Owls performed this week.
Rock Ya-Sin (2018) and the Las Vegas Raiders defeated former Owls Brandon McManus (2009-12), Jacob Martin (2014-17), and AFC West division rivals, the Denver Broncos, 22-16, in overtime. McManus scored 10 points (3FGs and 1PAT), including a 52-yard field goal. Martin also reeled in one tackle, while Ya-Sin had three.
Hassan Reddick (2013-16), Shaun Bradley (2016-19), and the Philadelphia Eagles got back in the win column this week with a 17-16 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Reddick contributed three tackles, two quarterback hits, one tackle-for-loss, and one crucial sack that held the Colts to just a field goal and allowed the Eagles offense a chance for the game-winning touchdown. Bradley had one tackle and continued his outstanding work on special teams.
Arnold Ebiketie (2017-20), Matt Hennessy (2016-19), and the Atlanta Falcons were able to bounce back this week with a 27-24 victory over the Chicago Bears. Ebiketie had a season-high six tackles to go along with one sack, two tackles-for-loss, and one quarterback hit.
Dion Dawkins (2013-16), Tyler Matakevich (2012-15), and the Buffalo Bills traveled 255 miles to Detroit for a home game and defeated the Cleveland Browns, 31-23. Despite having less total yards and time of possession, Dawkins and the Bills offense were still able to prevail. Matakevich had one tackle and was also able to captain the special teams unit.
Chris Myarick (2016-18), Quincy Roche (2016-19), and the New York Giants were unable to continue their momentum from Week 10, as they would lose, 31-18, to the Detroit Lions this week.
With P.J. Walker (2013-16) sidelined due to an ankle injury and Matt Ioannidis (2012-15) with a calf injury, former Owls - Sean Chandler (2014-17), Sam Franklin (2016-19), and the Carolina Panthers lost 13-3 to the Baltimore Ravens. Franklin still contributed a season-high four tackles.
On Monday night, Robbie Anderson (2011-13, 2015), recently re-signed Michael Dogbe (2014-18), and the Arizona Cardinals looked to continue their momentum from last week's victory, as they faced off against NFC West division rivals, the San Francisco 49ers. Unfortunately, they would lose 38-10, but Dogbe would contribute two tackles.
