PHILADELPHIA – Phil Steele announced his All-American Athletic Conference Team today and seven Temple Owls were among his selections. Defensive lineman Darian Varner and outside linebacker Layton Jordan earned second team recognition; linebacker Jordan Magee and running back Edward Saydee earned third team honors; and wide receiver Jose Barbon, tight end David Martin-Robinson and offensive lineman Isaac Moore earned fourth team honors.

Jordan, Magee, Martin-Robinson and Saydee are all expected to return for the Owls in 2023. Both Jordan and Magee finished in the top five in tackles for the Owls in 2022. Magee led the team with a career-best 86 tackles, while Jordan was the team leader in sacks (9.0), TFLs (18.5), interceptions (two), forced fumbles (three) and set the school record in defensive touchdowns (three). Saydee was the team's rushing leader with career-highs in yards (639), touchdowns (six), and carries (149). He also added 262 receiving yards on 36 receptions. Martin-Robinson had a breakout season despite missing the season's first three games. He finished with a career-best 33 receptions for 366 yards and two scores.

Moore exhausted his eligibility setting a school record with 57 consecutive games played (the previous record was 54 set by Delvon Randall). The five-time letterwinner never missed a game in his Temple career.

Barbon had his best season in 2022 with a team-leading 71 catches for 910 yards and two touchdowns. He finished his career at Temple with 137 catches for 1,600 yards, good for fifth and 14th, respectively, in the school record books. He recently opted to enter the 2023 NFL Draft.

Varner played in 11 games in 2022 missing the final two due to injury. Despite that, he finished among the team and conference leaders in tackles (35), sacks (7.5), and TFLs (12.5). He will not return in 2023 as he recently entered the transfer portal.
