Women’s Soccer Announces Spring Schedule
2.10.22 | Women's Soccer
PHILADELPHIA – After more than three months since their last competition, Temple women's soccer has announced their 2022 spring schedule. The Owls are set to face a competitive string of opponents, participating in four exhibition games along with the Philadelphia City 6 Tournament.
"The spring season is essential for a young team like ours," head coach Nick Bochette said. "For many of our student-athletes, this is the first proper offseason they've had at this level, and we're hoping to get a lot out of it both collectively and for each student-athlete."
The first two matchups the Owls will face in spring competition will prove to be an excellent test. The Cherry and White will debut on Mar. 19 in Queens, N.Y. as they face off against St. John's. The Red Storm had a historic 2021 season, advancing to the round of 16 in the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history before falling to Duke.
Just over a week later on Mar. 27, the Owls will travel to Rutgers for yet another challenging matchup. The Scarlet Knights, who are coming off an NCAA semifinal appearance, posted a 19-4-2 record this past year to finish the season at No. 4.
"We really wanted to challenge ourselves at a very high level this spring," Bochette said. "We certainty do not lack ambition as a program, and testing ourselves against quality opponents, including two teams that won multiple games in this year's NCAA tournament, will provide a fantastic test for our young group."
Temple will return home on Apr. 1 to host Towson, a competitor they saw in the 2021 season followed by a trip across town to the Philadelphia City 6 Tournament on Apr. 10.
Just six days later, the Cherry and White will close out spring exhibition play at the Temple Sports Complex against Lehigh.
