Carroll Named AAC Defender of the Week, Mastropietro Named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll

IRVING, Texas- After a throttling of Army 16-5 this weekend, goalkeeper Annie Carroll has been named AAC Defender of the Week and midfielder Belle Mastropietro has been named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll. For Carroll, it is the first time she has been honored with a weekly award in her career. For Mastropietro, it is her fifth career AAC Weekly award and her second straight Honor Roll dating back to last season.
Carroll starred for the Owls in goal. She put together one of the best goalie performances in recent memory. Carroll racked up 12 saves against 15 shots faced on target in her first start in Cherry and White. Her .800 save percentage is the highest single-game save percentage recorded since Temple began keeping track of the stat in 2010.
Mastropietro played a complete game, leading all scorers with four. The Preseason Midfielder of the Year also dished out an assist, scooped one ground ball, and controlled four draws.
The Owls will be back in action as they play host to Big 5 rival Villanova on Wednesday. Admission to the 6 p.m. matchup is free to all fans. The game will be streamed right here on Owls TV free of charge.
