No. 22 Lacrosse Faces Second Straight Big 5 Opponent in Saint Joseph’s

PHILADELPHIA- Following up two-straight wins to open the season, the 22nd-ranked Temple lacrosse team will take the short drive over to Hawk Hill to face the Saint Joseph's Hawks. The noon showdown will be streamed on ESPN+.
SCOUTING TEMPLE
> Temple remains parked at No.22 in the IWLCA/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll for the second straight week.
> The Owls defeated Villanova 12-7 to advance to 2-0 on the season. It was head coach Bonnie Rosen's 200th career victory.
> Graduate transfer Quinn Nicolai stole the show against Villanova. The midfielder put up five goals and one assist in a dominant performance. She leads the team with eight goals and is third in the American in scoring.
> Despite only playing in the first half, Belle Mastropietro still found the back of the net twice.
> National Defensive Player of the Week Annie Carroll continued her strong play in net with two saves against seven goals, she is tied for first in the American with 17 saves.
> Mackenzie Roth has slid right into being the top distributor for the Owls offense. She leads the team with five assists to go with her three goals.
SCOUTING SAINT JOSEPH'S
> The Hawks suffered a 20-6 loss to No. 9 Maryland in their season-opener. They rebounded well with a 13-11 win over a solid Lehigh squad.
> Saint Joseph's was strong last season. The Hawks went 10-7 and advanced to the A-10 title where they fell to UMass. The same UMass squad that Temple would defeat in the first round of the NCAA tournament a week later.
> The Hawks are led by Alex Kahoe. Kahoe's time at St. Joseph's has been the most successful in program history by far. Prior to her arrival the team had just three total winning seasons and had only made the A-10 semifinals twice. The last five seasons have all posted winning records for the Hawks and they have qualified for the A-10 semifinals in five straight seasons.
> Lauren Figura leads the charge for the Hawks. The attacker was voted preseason All-Atlantic 10 following up being named Second Team All-Conference in 2021. She was second on the team in goals last season (42).

> Temple and Saint Joseph's are meeting for the 25th time in series history. Temple has dominated the Hawks 20-4.
> The two sides spent several seasons in the Atlantic-10 together before Temple departed the conference in 2014.
> Last season, the two played an absolute thriller. Neither team took a lead of more than a one-goal during the duration of the match. Temple's Kara Nakrasius sunk a game-winning eight meter in the second overtime period to give Temple its first win over the Hawks since 2017.
