NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced earlier this week that Joe Arthur and Michelle Joyce were named 2021 USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes.

To qualify for the All-Academic award, athletes needed to maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.

Arthur led the Owls with a 13th place finish out of 174 runners in the Mid-Atlantic Regionals back in November.

Joyce was a leader for the Cherry and White all season, finishing as the lead runner in five of their six races. Her season was highlighted by three top-3 finishes at the Temple Invite, Iona Meet of Champions, and the AAC Championships; however, it was capped off with an 11th place finish at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals which cemented her spot to qualify for the NCAA Championships in which she became the 1st Temple women's runner to compete in the NCAA Championships since Blanca Fernandez did in 2015.
