Men’s Tennis to Host Saint Francis Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – Temple men's tennis welcomes Saint Francis (N.Y.) to Philadelphia this Saturday, Feb. 5 at 6 p.m. The match will be played at the Hecht Tennis Center on the University of Pennsylvania campus.

The Owls

The Cherry and White dropped to 0-2 on the season after falling to Penn last Wednesday, 6-1. Louis Gorregues secured the lone point from the No. 5 singles position, defeating his opponent in a tie-break.
Temple has started off the year showing strong efforts in doubles play, securing the point in their match against reigning Atlantic 10 Champions, VCU in the season opener.
Last year, the Owls posted an 11-5 record, including a perfect 3-0 home record and five sweeps.
The Owls had a strong fall performance this year with the most notable performance coming from the doubles pair of Marin Delmas and Gorregues who advanced to the ITA Super Regional semifinal, falling just short of victory in a tie-break to nationally recognized UVA.

Scouting Saint Francis

The Terriers enter the match with an even 1-1 record, facing a 4-0 loss in their season opener against Georgetown.
Saint Francis bounced back against Navy, securing their first ever program win over the midshipmen in a tight 4-3 battle.
Despite facing multiple cancelations last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Terriers played four regular season matches, posting a 3-1 regular season record.
Saint Francis earned a trip to the NEC post-season tournament, advancing to the finals before falling to first-seeded Farleigh Dickinson, 4-3.
