No. 10 Fencing Set for NCAA Championships
3.23.22 | Women's Fencing
The selections were announced by the NCAA Men's and Women's Fencing Committee on March 15, with Novoseltseva earning her first selection. This is the second year that Ross has been selected, and her first time competing as the 2020 NCAA Championships were canceled due to COVID.Â
The overall field is comprised of 144 competitors from 27 member institutions. Notre Dame will host the championships at the Castellan Family Fencing Center in Notre Dame, Ind. on March 24 & 25, 2022.
Fencers will compete in a round-robin format of five-touch bouts. After the round-robin, the top-four finishers in each weapon will fence in semifinal 15-touch bouts, with winners fencing to determine first and second places, and non-advancing fencers being awarded a tie for third place.
An institution's place finish in the championships will be based on points earned by each individual. A team will be awarded one point for each victory by its student-athletes during round-robin competition.
The opening rounds of the NCAA Championship will begin on March 24, with epee being at 9 a.m. and foil to begin at 11 a.m. Rounds 4 and 5 will be on March 28 at 9 a.m. for both weapons, with the semifinals round to begin at 1:30 p.m.
