Mastropietro, Roth and Nicolai Earn AAC Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas- After two road wins in three days last week, Belle Mastropietro has been named AAC Midfielder of the Week while Quinn Nicolai and Mackenzie Roth have been named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll. For Mastropietro, it is the third time in four weeks she has been honored by the conference. This is Roth's second straight week being named to the Honor Roll. This is Nicolai's second time winning a Conference Weekly Honor after being named Midfielder of the Week two weeks ago.
Mastropietro scored four goals Wednesday while also dishing out a career-high three assists. She also picked up two ground balls and controlled a career-high 14 draws to allow Temple to dominate possession in a 19-11 win over Kennesaw State. On Friday, she scored her fifth hat-trick in six games and passed for an assist. Mastropietro also scooped two ground balls and caused two turnovers against the Retrievers. The midfielder is top five in five different statistical categories in the American and leads all players in draw controls by a huge margin.
Roth had another solid week for the Cherry and White. Wednesday against Kennesaw State, the attacker scored two goals while tying her career-high four assists. Friday against UMBC she scored twice again while passing for an assist. She also tied her career-high three ground balls and caused one turnover. Roth is now second in the American in assists per game (2.17).
Nicolai was outstanding Friday. She scored a hat trick against Kennesaw State and passed for an assist. Against UMBC, Nicolai was the engine that powered Temple's comeback, scoring six goals and passing for two assists. All six of her goals came in the second half, including three straight to bring the score from 9-3 to 9-6.
Temple hosts No. 13 Rutgers in a matchup with national implications Wednesday. The 6 pm matchup will be steamed on ESPN+.
