Women's Tennis' Tian Named PhillySIDA Academic All-Area

PHILADELPHIA - Temple women's tennis player Yining Tian was honored for her academic and athletic performance as she was named one of the seven student-athletes on the PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Women's Tennis Team. The team is nominated and voted on by the sports information offices of 30 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
 
In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better. 

Tian led the team in 2022 as she posted a stellar 13-4 dual singles record. In doubles, the senior posted an impressive 15-4 overall record, with the majority of her wins (10-2) coming with partner Veronika Kulhava in dual doubles action. The duo's 10 wins in 2022 ranked 10th all-time in school history for a single season.  In all, Tian ended her Owls career with an overall singles record of 39-18 and 24-13 in doubles play. The Changsha, China native studied marketing and was on is a Temple Dean's List this past year.

Joining Tian on this year's Academic All-Area Women's Tennis Team is Performer of the Year Abbey Russano (Haverford), Marija Curnic of Penn, Haverford's Mimi Lavin, Swarthmore's Jenny Lewis and Sonia Varma,, and Saint Joseph's Amanda Nava.
